Following his remarkable portrayal of Makanaki in the popular Nollywood film and series, “King of Boys,” many fans eagerly anticipated Reminisce’s return to the acting world.

However, the rapper has made it clear that those waiting for his comeback will be disappointed, as he recently shared his decision to exit the world of acting on the Zero Conditions Podcast. Here’s what Reminisce had to say about his departure.

Reflecting on his involvement in “King of Boys” and his reasons for abandoning acting, Reminisce explained:

REMINISCE: “My involvement in ‘King of Boys’ was essentially an experiment, much like how I ventured into sports or might wake up one day and decide to try something entirely new. I’m known for my spontaneous nature, and I enjoy testing uncharted waters.

It all began when Banky W informed me that Kemi Adetiba, who directed the film, was interested in reaching out to me. Kemi indeed reached out, but I was occupied during December, so I suggested we consider it in January.

She sent me the script, which I initially didn’t bother to read or find intriguing. However, Edward, a friend, persuaded me to give it a shot. So I agreed.”

Reminiscing about his first day on set, which happened to be his birthday, Reminisce added:

REMINISCE: “As I arrived on set in Ikoyi, I witnessed Aunty Sola in her element, shouting and even scolding herself when she made a mistake. At that moment, I called Kemi, telling her that I had to leave to join my friends at Club 57. I admitted, ‘I can’t handle this; it’s not my forte.’ Kemi encouraged me to stay and insisted it didn’t matter. So we continued filming.”

He also shared a comical incident during the group script reading, revealing that he had never actually read the script before. Despite the challenges, he found himself evolving into a significant character in the film. Reminisce said:

REMINISCE: “The first full day on set, everyone suggested we read the script as a group. That’s when they realized I hadn’t even looked at the script. I had to quickly acquaint myself with it, with Kemi’s invaluable assistance. My character wasn’t initially designed as the primary antagonist, but it organically evolved that way, and I embraced the challenge as a victory.”

When asked if he had intentions of pursuing more acting roles, Reminisce firmly replied:

REMINISCE: “No, I’m sorry, but no. I appreciate your wishes, but I have lost interest in acting. It’s not something I want to continue.”

Reminisce’s decision to step away from acting leaves fans reflecting on his role as Makanaki in the “King of Boys” franchise. What are your thoughts on his exit from acting, and how did you perceive his performance in the “King of Boys” series? Share your opinions by leaving a comment below.
