African Union Public Health Scholarship Details

The Africa CDC’s annual scholarship program offers scholarships to 10 young African scholars for an 18-month master’s degree in epidemiology at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Public Health in South Africa.

Preference is given to those currently working with their respective country’s National Public Health Institute (NPHI), aiming to strengthen the public health workforce across African Union Member States.

Applicants can choose from various courses including epidemiology and biostatistics, field epidemiology, infectious diseases epidemiology, public health informatics, biostatistics, and implementation science.

Requirements for African Public Health Scholars Programme 2025

To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • Have a background in disciplines like medicine, microbiology, dentistry, statistics, computer science, veterinary science, demography, nutrition, or psychology.
  • Hold a four-year honors degree, an MBBCh, or another health-related degree.
  • Relevant work experience is a plus.
  • Provide an English competency certificate or evidence of prior undergraduate training in English if your country’s medium of instruction is not English.
