European Union Traineeship Details:
Are you a young graduate with a passion for international relations? Do you want to learn more about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests in South Africa?
The traineeship is based in the Political, Press, and Information Section. You’ll contribute to the Delegation’s work on EU-South Africa relations. You’ll also get to collaborate with colleagues in other sections of the EU Delegation as needed.
The PPI also supports the Head of Delegation as an observer to ECOWAS, monitors regional developments, and reports on related issues.
PPI assists the Head of Delegation in coordinating with Member States on political, regional, consular, migration, and security matters.
Eligibility Requirements for European Union Traineeship 2024
To be eligible for the European Union Traineeship, you must:
- Be 18 or older
- Hold a university-level degree
Qualifications or special requirements:
- You must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Law, Social Studies, Politics, Economics, or a similar field.
- You need excellent English skills, both written and spoken.
- You should have strong writing and research skills.
- You should be committed, able to meet deadlines, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to the EU Delegation’s activities.
Additional qualifications that would be an asset:
- An additional degree in another field.
- The ability to communicate in multiple languages (South African official languages, EU official languages).
Benefits of European Union Traineeship 2024
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. On average, trainees can expect to receive around €800 per month. This financial support is meant to help cover living expenses during the traineeship.
The traineeship lasts up to 6 months and takes place within the Political, Press, and Information Section of the EU Delegation to South Africa, starting in October 2024.
